Rider High School opened in 1961 and serves students in grades nine through twelve. It was named for Stephen H. Rider, a long-time educator in the Wichita Falls Independent School District. He was principal of Wichita Falls High School from 1919 to 1949.

This man lived education. He came to Wichita Falls in 1919 as principal of the high school and soon became dean of the young Hardin Junior College also. S. H. Rider at Desk
