Rider High School opened in 1961 and serves students in grades nine through twelve. It was named for Stephen H. Rider, a long-time educator in the Wichita Falls Independent School District. He was principal of Wichita Falls High School from 1919 to 1949.

Stephen Hendrix Rider
|This man lived education. He came to Wichita Falls in 1919 as principal of the high school and soon became dean of the young Hardin Junior College also.
|As a result of his constant search for ways to further education, he helped found the Texas Interscholastic League in 1923.
|During his thirty years of progressive administration, Mr. Rider gave unselfishly of his time and self to the advancement of education and growth of the Wichita Falls school system.
