Did you know that Wichita Falls ISD provides full-day Pre-K programs at several campuses across the district to support early childhood learning.

To enroll in the Prekindergarten program, a child must be four years old on or before September 1 of the upcoming school year. Students are eligible if they meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Limited English proficiency
• Eligible for the National School Lunch Program
• Child of an active-duty United States military member
• Child of a military member injured or killed in service
• Currently or previously in foster care through Texas DFPS

Per district policy FDB (LOCAL), all students will attend the schools they reside in, unless granted permission to transfer based on these criteria: 

• Child of District Employee
• Child of Parent Stationed at Sheppard AFB on Active Military Orders
• Child of Peace Officer in Accordance with State Law
• IB Student (Legacy HS Only)
• Sibling of a Centralized Program Student
• Current 4th Grader Affected by Attendance Zone Change (West Foundation, Fowler)

Please note: If your child is part of a centralized special education program, you do not need to complete a transfer request form to remain in the program. If you have any questions regarding centralized programs, please call the special education department at 940-235-1019.

The District Transfer Committee follows the guidelines set in FDB (LOCAL).  This information can be found on the WFISD website. Please complete the form below to allow the District Transfer Committee the ability to make a decision. No transfers are guaranteed. Available space and staffing may be a defining issue when granting or denying a transfer. 

Notice: A person who knowingly falsifies information to establish residency for a student in a public school shall be liable to the public school if the student is enrolled on the basis of false information. The Texas Penal Code 37.10 (c) (3) states that falsification of enrollment documents is a Class C misdemeanor and a school district may enforce civil penalties for this offense. See Texas Penal Code 37.10 and Texas Education Code 25.001.

Rider Middle School provides multiple advanced academic pathways designed to challenge students, support individual strengths and interests, and prepare learners for future college, career, and military readiness goals.

Gifted & Talented (GT)

Wichita Falls ISD's Gifted & Talented program is designed to meet the educational needs of students who demonstrate exceptional academic potential and advanced learning abilities. Students participate in learning experiences that emphasize critical thinking, creativity, innovation, research, and problem-solving.

Advanced Coursework Opportunities

Students may participate in advanced coursework designed to strengthen academic skills, promote higher-level thinking, and prepare students for future Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Credit, and OnRamps opportunities available in high school.

Credit by Exam (CBE)

Credit by Exam opportunities may be available for eligible students seeking grade-level advancement or demonstrating mastery of academic content.

As a member state of the Military Interstate Children's Compact Commission (MIC3), Texas supports educational policies that help military-connected students transition smoothly between schools.

Military-connected students may receive support related to:

• Academic placement
• Program eligibility
• Attendance considerations
• Educational continuity during military-related moves

Rider Middle School students will have opportunities to partake in beginner Career and Technical Education courses and visit our Career and Education Center prior to entering high school. If you or your student have questions about what courses are being offered for the school year, or questions regarding the career pathways in our CTE program, please contact your campus liaison.

Although Wichita Falls ISD offers Dual Credit Enrollment at the high school level, it's currently unavailable to junior high students. Additionally, Wichita Falls ISD offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program at Legacy High School.

Students identified with characteristics of dyslexia may receive intervention and instructional support designed to strengthen literacy and reading development.

Students identified as Emergent Bilingual learners may receive:

• Language development support
• LPAC accommodations
• Academic language assistance

Military-connected students who are multilingual learners receive support designed to strengthen both academic achievement and language development.

Counselors work closely with military-connected students and families to support successful academic transitions and long-term educational planning. Services may include:

• Academic goal setting
• Course placement assistance
• Schedule adjustments related to student transitions
• Academic intervention planning
• Progress monitoring
• Transition support for students entering from other school districts, states, or countries
• Preparation for high school academic pathways and graduation planning

Special attention is given to helping students maintain academic continuity during military-related transitions.

Tutoring.com is available at no cost and provides students with access to academic assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Rider Middle School encourages military-connected students to become actively involved in campus life through a variety of extracurricular activities, fine arts programs, leadership opportunities, academic organizations, and athletics. Participation in school activities helps students build friendships, develop confidence, strengthen leadership skills, and establish meaningful connections within the school community.

Rider Middle School offers a variety of athletic opportunities that promote teamwork, leadership, responsibility, physical fitness, and school pride. Student-athletes have opportunities to participate in UIL athletic programs while developing skills that support success both on and off the field.

Participation in athletics helps students build strong relationships with teammates and coaches while becoming actively engaged in campus life. Military-connected students are encouraged to participate in athletics as a way to establish connections and strengthen their sense of belonging within the Raider community.

Military families may still participate in extracurricular activities even if application deadlines have passed. Schools are required to provide families with information about available activities and ensure access to communication channels related to participation opportunities. For additional support or information, contact your school’s administrators or coaches (Chapter 600 of the MIC Rulebook).

ParentSquare serves as the primary communication platform between families, teachers, and administrators.
